Philadelphia, PA – 97.5 FM producer Pat Egan will apologize this afternoon on Mike Missanelli’s show for his role in what many have perceived to be a racist radio bit.
Egan, fresh off a three day suspension, also announced plans to debut a new character today on Mike Missanelli’s program.
Egan, who has come under fire for his portrayal of “Dwayne from Swedesboro,” will apologize for the racial undertones he used for the fake caller, who frequently called into Missanelli’s program using a “black” voice and often discussed his love for white women.
Sources confirmed Egan will also debut his new character, “Manuel from Juarez,” a sleepy Mexican janitor who Egan described as “being the complete opposite of my real self, so it’s ok that I’m doing this. What’s the big deal?”
Egan announced he would call into Missanelli’s show from time to time as Manuel to discuss naps, the best types of refried beans, and what types of burros are best for getting around on a day to day basis.
Missanelli proclaimed the bit to be “hilarious” and was looking forward to all of the good will the character would bring to his program.
At press time, the Mexican Consulate of Philadelphia had requested a meeting with 97.5 Fanatic representatives.
