Too easy. Sure I could sit here and make dumb jokes on my computer and you could send me hate mail and virus laden emails, as is the norm, but Ruben Amaro decides to go insane and spout this gem of a quote in a recent interview:
“They don’t understand the game,” Amaro said. “They don’t understand the process. There’s a process. And then they bitch and complain because we don’t have a plan. There’s a plan in place and we’re sticking with the plan. We can’t do what’s best for the fan. We have to do what’s best for the organization so the fan can reap the benefit of it later on. That’s the truth.”
If the plan is to be one of the worst teams in baseball, to bungle trade after trade, make terrible free agent signings, and force your younger players to learn an entirely new position a quarter of the way through the season instead of having him take a few reps in the outfield during spring training, than yes, there is a plan I guess.
Winter is coming and hopefully Ruben’s head will be up on a pike in front of Citizen’s Bank Park when it all finally ends.
