Philadelphia, PA – Newly signed kicker Caleb Sturgis had some strong words for the sometimes harsh Philadelphia Eagles fans and told them all to “preach patience” until he became familiar with the intricacies of kicking at Lincoln Financial Field.
“I know Eagles fans can be a little ‘saucy’ at times and may have a bad reputation for throwing batteries at Santa, but I’m no pushover. Just cool it with the harsh talk and potential cat calls until I get a chance to prove myself and figure out the wind patterns at the Linc.”
Sturgis then pointed his finger into the camera and gave it a stern look.
“I’m not joshing. Just try me, Eagles fans. Really, just try me. I don’t put up with any bunk.”
Sturgis brought up former kicker Alex Henery and said it was a “travesty” what the fans did to the poor young man.
“The guy misses a few kicks and doesn’t have enough touch backs one year and the fans turn on him? The fans totally ruined his confidence and his life. He’s got a family to feed, folks, and you literally took bread out of their mouths. It’s just a game, no matter how much you enjoy football.”
Sturgis continued and said all fans should keep this mantra in mind.
“It’s just a game, I don’t take it too seriously and neither should you. Do you think I’ll care if I shank a few kicks here or there? I won’t. If I knock in that game winner as time expires, than that’s awesome. If not, I don’t care. I’ll sleep either way. I suggest you all do the same and focus on something really important, like paying your taxes on time,” he said.
At press time, Sturgis was seen outside of the practice facility reportedly lecturing several young fans as to why the Cowboys should be the “logical” choice for their favorite football team.
